Young artists
display works

TWO NORTH Vancouver students
are among 170 young artists whose
work is being displayed at the
Vancouver Art Gallery for the
B.C. Young Artists Exhibition.

Works by Matthew Robinson,
six, and Rommel Cruz, 16, were
selected from among 2,600 entries
for the Emily Carr College of Art
and Design-sponsored contest.

The Rainbow Monsters and Cruz’s
pastel work Water Lilies will be
displayed at the gallery until Nov.
1, when the exhibition wil! tour
through a number of Washington
State and British Columbia
municipalities.

This year’s total of 2,600 entries
was down about 100 or so entries
from the previous number, said
tour coordinator Susan Brain.
“The submissions and the quality
of the older students was higher
than ever before,’’ she explained.

The province-wide contest was
open to artists aged two to 18 years
old.
