During the six weeks, all of the contenstants will te involved in many high profile media events such as telephone operators for the Kiwanis Auction on BCTV, brunch and fashion shows, public speaking contests and community fund raising events. The competition is a first in Canada with an erphasis on scholastic achievement, perform- ing arts, sports, community in- volvement and public speaking. Top Teen B.C. will be an an- nual competition to promote and assist in the educational develop- ment of B.C."s youth, leading to the Top Teen Canada competition in Toronto in 1992. Seniors can go on trek NORTH SHORE Neighbourhood House invites seniors to participate in a natural history adventure. Take a step back in time to view the Petroglyphs of Gabriola Island. These ancient rock carvings were made by the Coast Salish Indians more than 2,000 years ago. The rich deposits of the Petroglyphs date back thousands of years to prehistoric times. Organizers say you will see images of animals, humans and mythological symbols that have been incredibly well preserved. The event takes place on Tuesday, Feb. 19 between 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. The cost is $15 and a seniors care card is necessary for B.C. Fer- ries.
