WITH SUMMER winding down
and autumn approaching, many
North Shore arts and entertain-
ment groups are starting to plan
for productions later in the season.

As such they are looking for per-
forrners, musicians and the like.
Following is a brief list of various
audition calls from local and non-
local groups.

The North Shore Light Opera
Society will be auditioning for per-
formers for its 1988 production,
The Pirates of Penzance, in West
Vancouver Sept. 13 and 14.

Auditions will be both nights
7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at St. David's
United Church at Taylor Way and
the Upper Levels Highway. Info:

The locally based award-winning
British Columbia Boys Choir will
be holding its auditions for new
members all through the month of
September.

Also on a musical note, the
Vancouver Children’s Chamber
Choir is auditioning to fill 20 spots
in both the concert choir and the
training choir.

This award-winning choir is ac-
cepting auditions from youngsters
aged nine to 16 years, with prere-
quisites being enjoyment of music
and a good ear.

The North Vancouver-based
Vancouver City Singers — with the
motto “Music is the object, sing-
ing is the game,” — are looking
for singers for the 1988-89 season.

The West Vancouver Communi-
ty Adult Band and the West Van-
couver Youth Band are presently
recruiting new members for their
upcoming 1988-89 season.

The youth band’s registration
night will be Sept. 14 from 7 p.m.
to 8:30 p.m. at Irwin Park School

West Vancouver's Klee Wyck is
hosting a membership party/pub
night Sept. 10.

Starting at 7:30 p.m., the event
at 200 Keith Rd. in West Van-
couver is being dubbed a Mad
Hatter’s pub night, with a prize for
the maddest hat.

CIRKIDS, Vancouver's children’s
circus school and _ performing
troupe is holding tryouts Sept. 13
from 7 p.m, to 8:30 p.m. at Van-
couver’s Southill Gym.

CIRKIDS is looking for children
aged seven to 16 with athletic/
theatric aptitude, body strength,
flexibility, discipline and good at-
titude.

Children should wear comfor-
table gym clothes to the troupe’s
tryouts.

The gym is located at 5995
Prince Albert St., near 41st and
Fraser.
