European and American
Stars travel to Switzerland to
play a huge variety of music
from modern to classical
jazz, to blues and jazz/rock,
in the Montreux Jazz
Festival. For jazz fans this is

showcase in the world, and
for those who have always
wanted to go, but never
quite managed to make the
complicated, and often
expensive arrangements,
Capilano College is offering
a three week tour this July.

The Copenhagen Mon-
treux tour, from July 7 to
July 28, will spend the first
five days in Copenhagen,
visiting the many clubs
which have given that city a
reputation for an excellent
jazz scene. Their jazz

festival and outdoor con-

certs will act as a warm-up
for two weeks in Montreux.

As well as the jazz festival,
a visit to Montreux includes
all the other diversions of a
European holiday resort. In
between musical activities,
participants will be able to
go to the beach at Lake
Geneva, visit the casinos,
stores and restaurants of the
town, or explore the scenic
surrounding countryside.
The last two days of the tour
will be spent in Geneva.

The Montreux tour wil be
accompanied by Capilano

member Shannon Gunn. An
instructor of vocal reper-
toire, she is also a
professional jazz singer who
works in Vancouver,
western Washington and the
Prairies.

The cost of the Montreux
tour is $2780 Cdn., which
includes, among other items,
airfare, accommodation,
breakfasts, pre-tour  in-
struction, and admission to
ten Montreux Jazz Festival
