Station robbed

NORTH VANCOUVER RCMP are searching for two sus-
pects following the Sept. 8 robbery of a Shell! service station
in the 100 block of Riverside Drive.

According to the police, two men entered the station and
threatened an employee with a Knife and/a baseball bat.
The suspects took money and cigarettes. They left the scene
in a tan-colored American-modei van.

The two wore handkerchiefs over their faces. Both were
white, between 25 and 35 years old and about 5° 11" (1m. 78
cm) in height. Contact the RCMP at 985-1311 if you have
information about this case.

Assault charge

WEST VANCOUVER Police have charged.a 21-year-old
North Vancouver. man with one count of. assault and two
counts of mischief to property.

According to a police spokesman, officers responded to a
disturbance at a Jacobs Crescent home at 2:30 a.m. on Sept.

8. On arriving at the scene, investigators determined that
an assault had taken place and a door at the home had been
kicked open.

As police investigated, the. suspect, Travis Walter

’ Newman, returned to the area. He was chased by police and
taken into custody.

On the way to the police station, the suspect caused
about $150 worth of damage to the police car by repeated-
ly kicking at the rear window of the car.

Newman appeared in court and was subsequently
released to return to court 8? a later date.
