The poticy statement, required by provincially established tegisla- tion, the Islands Trust Act, cutlines general policies which will influence the land use planning of the trust area's local trust: come mitices. Council's endorement concludes a two-year process of policy de- velopment and public consulta- tion, The trust council considered ad- ditional public input before con- ducting further edits to the latest draft, which reflected revisions based on public feedback during the summer. In addition, the trust council identified key topics requiring further research and public input. The draft policy statement will be submitted to the Municipal Affairs Minister for consideration and approvat and will require final appreval by the trust council. At its quarterly meeting in December, the trust council will begin to develop a work program to implement and refine an ap- proved policy statement.
