New Parkgate Library gets underway

Council and the Library Board
turned the leaf on a new chap-
ter in the history of the North
Vancouver District Library,
October 30, joining in a Sod-
Turning Ceremony to mark
the beginning of the construc-

‘tion ‘phase for the new

Parkgate Branch Library.

By the end of 1994, the 15,000

square foot facility will be

open for business just north of
Parkgate Village Centre, serv-
ing the growing eastern
Seymour area with a larger
library and a wide range of ser-...

; Watermain cleaning in Pemberton Hei hts

Watermains in the Pemberton Heights a area will be cleaned between November 15 and 26, affecting the
water supply for.residents on West Keith Road north to Wood Avenue from Bowser Avenue to McKay. The
cleaning is part of an ongoing maintenance Program t to ensure dependable water service.

Residents in the area and surrounding streets may notice some discolouration of water due to sediment being
stirred up. This is harmless and water clarity should return to normal quite quickly. . ,

During the cleaning process, specific blocks within the area will be without water from 9: 00 a.m. to 4:30 p. May
with some areas experiencing more than one interruption. Advance notice will be. given by letter.

A call for Advisory Committee members
Caring for our community is a community effort — and North Vancouverites put a lot into their community.
District council and staff are actively supported by volunteers who serve on a variety of advisory committees,

which focus on Community Services, Urban Design, Planning Parks, Library, Recreation, Heiitage, Family
and Youth Court, Court of Revision and Disability Issues.

These volunteers are your friends and neighbours and are commit-
ted to working towards a better community for all.

If you are a resident of che District of North Vancouver and would
like to become more involved in your community through volun-
teering to serve on an Advisory Committee, pick up an application
from the District Hall or Annex, complete the form and return it by
November 26. Appointments to Advisory Committees are made by —
‘Council in December.
