UESTION: ‘My backyard patio tock a beating over the past winter. There
are hairline cracks everywhere. Can these be repaired easily?

Dig a trench around all sidewalks aad concrete #
slabs 8" wide and 12” deep using a spade shovel. If sod §
comes up to concrete cut the sod and roll back. Apply a ¥
lining of landscape fabric (available at garden centres §
and building supply stores) down sides and across the §
bottom of the trench leaving enough on the outside to §
cover the top. Fill the trench with drain rock and cover
with the balance of the fabric. Roll sod or garden soil 8
back on top of the landscape fabric to complete the H
project. This will now allow the water and melted snow §
to run off concrete slabs or sidewalks into the drainage §
trench and seep away into the ground and not run back ¢
under the conrete slab allowing it to freeze and heave |

temperatures this past winter. Hairline cracks can be
Tepaired by dmuapening the concrete surface allowing the
water to migrate down into the cracks and preparing the
following crack filler.

a thin slurry of Top-N-Bond by Ocean Construction

- early moming or evening is preferred. After repairs
wait 7 days and spray concrete with a migrating concrete
scaler using a low pressure weed sprayer.
