These tall-growing bulb flowers are especially popular among home gardeners for both the display they create in garden borders and their long life as cut flowers. Dahlias are at their peak in August and September. In fact, they will go on flowering pro- lifically through early autumn, until the first frosts chill the air. It’s not unusual to see dahlias in bloom long. after most perennials and annuals have finished flower- ing.
