Research Foundaticn Monday night At the meeting. held 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Lion; Gate Hospital, the research foundation will review its 1989 operations. Founded in ‘963, the Lions Gate Medical Research Foundation raises funds from the community to be given in the form ot grants to research programs at Lion: Gate Hospital. The foundation also allocates funds as “seed money" for the ini- tial start-up cost of larger scale research projects. Over the past three years. the research foundation has raised almost $1 million for research pro- jects, according to president Ron Davie. Grant recipients scheduled to speak at the meeting include Wen- dy Winslow, the former director of nursing at LGH, who will discuss the study to be done this vear on the impact of the hospita!’s early discharge program which allows new mothers to return home with newborns within 24 hours of giving birth. Also speaking will be Dr. John Hunt, who will discuss the Miles-Hunt diabetes project, and | Dr. Stephen Milstein, research foundation coordinator.
