TWENTY-YEAR-old Nicholas Maloff smiles as he receives a $1,000-
cheque from Sam Balden of the Kiwanis Club of Vancouver. The
donation helped pay for Maloff’s airfare to Mascow where he is
studying at the prestigious Moscow Conservatory of Music. The
North Vancouver concert pianist was awarded a full scholarship by
the Conservatory and will study with the school’s top instructor,
iev Naumov. Father Nicholas Sr. said the young virtuoso is
“delighted’’ with the award.
