These three women have the huge task of surveying by telephone the delivery

of the North Shore News.

Our survey sample is geographically balanced by household distribution right
across North and West Vancouver and totals hundreds of calls per week.

This telephone survey system is our primary method of supervising the efficiency
of our delivery personnel. Also, it is an extremely effective way of getting response fron our
teaders, a kind of community referendum.

If you have been called by these women you already know they always ask at least
one more question. The delivery survey provides an opportunity to conduct research in the
communities of North and West Vancouver.

The research questions may ask for opinions on
news events, political issues, about shopping habits, about an
advertiser or group of advertisers. or a great many other
things. We ask a lot of questions about our own newspaper

too.

Your answers are instant feedback from the
people we serve. Not only do we find out how many of you
received the paper (a 98% year-to date average) but also our
reporters will use the surveys for stories; our advertising
salespeople use the data in presentations to their clients: the
management of the North Shore News will even use the data
to determine new directions or contents of the newspaper.
