PRINCE CHARLES, a North Vancouver school
for the mentally handicapped, scored an 8-5
victory Wednesday afternoon over Hamilton
Junior Secondary School in the first annual
Skyline Sports Challenge Cup.

The game marked the
second year the neighboring
schools have held this pre-
Christmas custom, begun
last year by Hamilton

Physical Education teacher
Jim Martin.

Martin began the com-
petition because he felt that
kids from Prince Charles

needed a chance to show
they were not just students
at a ‘special school’ for the
handicapped, but real
people with feelings and
emotions.

The gym was filled to
capacity, and the Hamilton
players, many of them on
their school athletic teams,
showed class well beyond
their years.
