This week featured the great debate between Carter and Reagan. Some people say this one debate could be the deciding factor in the outcome of the election. Today’s question is: ‘How important is TV in forming voters opinions?’ Ted Crossen North Vancouver Personally speaking, a slick TV image would not sway my vote, but I can see many people being convinced to think in a certain way by the way a candidate comes across on TV. Debra Oliver, aged 27, of Vancouver pleaded guilty to driving while impaired after the incident on April 9. Crown counsel Dave DeWitt said that Oliver's driving was first noted at 2:20 a.m. when a stationary vehicle at Lonsdalé and 3rd Street was hit by another car which then drove off. A taxi driver who wit- nessed the accident managed to follow the car and get the licence plate oumber. DeWitt said that the driver of the car that had been hit drove down 3rd Street and then stopped at a phone booth to call the police. As he was walking back to his car, Dewitt said, he saw a car heading straight for him at 30 to 40 miles an hour. He managed to avoid the car but his vehicle was struck again, and Dewitt said the man thought it was the same car that had hit bim earlier. A witness who saw the second accident chased the car until it struck a trce at Queens Road and Newmarkct Drive. DeWitt said the licence plate of the car matched the number on the car involved in the first accidcat. A total of 33,500 was caused to both car. and defence counsec!
