Junior Hockey team is showing signs of being long on desire. On Wednesday evening the young North Shore team surprised a big, tough Seattle Breaker entry from the Western Hockey League with a 5-2 win at Karen Magnussen Arena in front of a happy bunch of supporters. The game was only 1:11 old and two Caps were already sitting in the penalty box when Seattle tallied their first of the evening. While most of the crowd came up with the feeling that it was going to be a long evening for the younger Caps, the team itself pulled themselves together and settled down to some tough and determined play. For their first exhibition ,encounter of the season the Caps had a good spread of points from both veterans and rookies. Doug Scissons, a returnee from last season picked up a goal and an assist while Graham Kerr, another veteran matched him. Rookie Dwayne Potekal picked up a pair of assists while newcomers Leonard Poole, and Kevin Berard each picked up a goal. Rod Slatten who was with Coquitlam last year picked up his first goal as a Nor Wes Caps. To help prepare the young team for their 66 game schedule in the new 10 team ‘British - Columbia Junior. Hockey League the Caps will be playing host to the Richmond Sockeyes next Friday evening at the Karen Magnussen Arena after taking on the Sockeyes in ‘Richmond on Tuesday evening. Caps open their season September 23 in Bellingham with their home opening Friday, September 28 at the North Van Recreation Centre when they host Penticton.
