Student Summer Works is one of the 12) employment programs of Youth Options BC, a government initiative to provide work — experience opportunities and to improve access to post-secondary edu- cation for youth in’ British Columbia. Student Summer Works helps students carn money, as well as gain training and experience. Employers get a break in paying student wages when Sara Hof are recent high school graduates and are spending their summer after graduation working for the Lower Mainiand Women -in Trades and Technology Association (WITT). They are working as assis- tants tor the GETT (Girls Exploring = Trades and Technologies) Camp Project, which gives girls in Grades 6 and 7 an opportunity to expe- rience first hand the education | and career opportunities avail- able to them in technologies and trades. : * GETT Camps have’ been developed to provide a fun and supportive atmosphere for introducing girls to techni- cal trades career choices. Paxton-Judge and Hof set up the camp and assist the SINGER Christine Duncan led the Hugh Fraser Quintet and the 16-piece Vancouver Ensemble of Jazz Inspiration (VEJI) band in a performance at CBC Radio's Road Show 2C00 last weekend at Lonsdale Quay.
