Dear Editor:

My name is Beatrice Prizeman
and [ have been a resident and
homeowner in West Vancouver for
some 40 years.

{always paid my taxes and gave
40 years of service through the com-
munity ‘and senior centre — and
have a medal from the municipality
to prove it. 1 am sitting here wearing
two or three hats.

Hat No. tI: fam a person. | am
also a human being. We were
always taught a human being was
created by God and there was a very
cold evening one January day in
1899 when he absent mindedly put
me on this planet. Oh dear! Now
I've told you my age.

Hat No. 2: Tam here representing
some 84 human beings residing up
22nd “Street which most of you
know as Kiwanis Lodge. That home .
has been there for years and we've
never had a complaint from the
neighbors about us riding motorcy-
cles in the night — nor do we have
wild all-night parties: with ghetto-
blasting music...

Oh yes, we are drug addicts — if
that means pills —- but so is the per-
son who drinks six cups of coffee
per day a drug addict and we have
no sex maniacs among us — more
the pity. A little sex would liven up‘
the place, but you know we are just
too darn old.

Now let me put on another hat.
Mr. Mayor and councillors, we. are
an asset to this community. West

to high school age allow their young

high schools by the score coming in
afier 4 pam. and gaining valuable
experience of the work ethic and
dealing with peuple.

We have a nursery school that
comes here with three- and four-
year-olds who climb all over the

Those children will grow up with
respect for seniors.

larly to the people who are so
opposed to us living in their neigh-
borheod —— how many years down
the road before you ure standing in
our shoes and will reap the same
intolerance’?

this Earth whether you go upwards
