And her recent track results show that
she can indeed run like the wind.

Oddy became a triple gold medalist at
the B.C. high school track and field
championships held recently at
Swangard Stadium.

In doing so she proved herself a force
on the track in her own right, movirig
out from behind fellow NorWester Lori
Durward who graduated fran Hand-
sworth last year. (Durward rewrote both
the 800 and 1,500 records at the [990
B.C. championships.)

At the meet, Oddy won the &00-metre
in 2:13.59 and the 1,500-metre in
4:38.34.

But she is also a team player: she
chose to run on Handsworth's relay
team at the B.C.‘s rather than in the 400.
which she won at the North Shore.

“The relay was eartier on in the day

the Handsworth girls’ win in the 4 X
400-metre relay.

Although Oddy is an 800 specialist,
she produced a pe-sonal best in the
B.C.’s 1.500 because. she says, she was
fresh for the first race of the day.

Then fast Saturday, at the Harry
Jerome Classic, she posted a new per-
sonal best for the 1,500 of 4:33.9 — five
seconds better than her previous PB —
which again won her first place in a race
for Grade 1! and 12 athletes. In both
1500s, Oddy was followed in second
place by Windsor’s Lindsay McLaren, 4
NorWester.

Next up for Oddy is the Canadian
Juniors in Winnipeg this July. She hopes
to earn a spot on the B.C. 800-metre
squad for the second consecutive year.
