Ciearance AG-4033 Local man honored by Optical Society GERRY STEWART of Hillside Secondary School is among 100 science teachers from Washington, Oregon and British Columbia to be honored by the Optical Society of America. The teachers from the Pacific Northwest region were selected by their respective state or province departments of education, using guidelines established by OSA’s education committee, which spon- sors the event. To enable the teachers to attend, the society has budgeted $42,000 to provide cach teacher's school system full support for his substitute teacher, and pays all ex- penses incurred by the teacher to attend the meeting. Last year was the first year the OSA held a special program to honor science teachers, during the 1985 annual meeting in Washington, D.C.; since then, other scientific societies have ex- pressed interest in making the pro- gram a mode! for similar activities for science teachers. Education committee chair Robert W.
