Why should the gov- ernment sponsor one organization and not another? WV woman returns from Hondu ANN BURRIDGE of West Vancouver recently returned from a short-term mission to the Honduras. She was a part of a team of physicians, surgeons, dentists, nurses, para- medical and general support personne] sponsored by the Medical Group Missions program of the Christian Medical Society. They con- ducted a general medical, surgical, and dental clinic. The surgical teams worked in a hospital at Yoro but Clinics were ‘held in sur- rounding towns. Some were daily trips and others over- night trips. ; These clinics are set up in church buildings or schools with the cooperation of local churches and local coor- dinators. Some 6,859 adults . and children were seen in the ’ eight clinics. Seven hundred Pemberton air service to improve. THE VILLAGE of Pember- ton, B.C. will receive a fed- eral contribution -of $1.17 million to install a microwave landing system at . the Pemberton airport. Microwave landing _.Systems have been adopted by the International Civil Aviation Organization as the successor to the instrument landing system (ILS) cur- rently in use worldwide. In making the announce- -ment, Lorne Greenaway, M.P. for Cariboo-Chilcotin, said the new navigation system will lead to reguiarly scheduled airline service to Pemberton, the nearest air- port to the international des- tination resort of Whistler. Access to this growing resort area has been limited primarily to automobile and _rail traffic. When the MLS is installed and the airport is fully operational, Air B.C. estimates 14,000 one-way passengers from Vancouver during the first year of operation. with volume ex- pected to'double within five years. Air B.C. will be using the Dash 7 STOL aircraft manufactured by . deHavilland of Canada Lid. when its regularly: scheduled flights into Pemberton begin.
