HOCKEY AND SOCCER got together on Sunday with the
the winner. The North Shore Industrial Soccer League presented a cheque to the firemen prior to the M.D. bencfit

Getting your kicks

Local karate club at Rec Centre

Karate fans and those who
are interested in the sport
will have an opportunity to
witness a demonstration on
Sunday at the North Van-
couver Recreation Centre at
3 pm.

Produced by the Suitela
Karate Team, a local North.
Shore club, the event will
feature Ahmed Aboukazaal,
a fourth degree black belt
who has recently moved to
the area from Lebanon.

The demonstration will be

an introduction to. the
techniques and applications
of full contact karate.

Included will be practical
defences against various
attacks (bare handed and
weapons), basic and ad-
vanced techniques,
examples of breaking
techniques which have not
been seen before in this
area.

The local club practises a
form called Kyokushinka,

and the representatives of
the club recently performed
at the Kuoshu Kung Fu
world championship, and in
Los Angeles international
championships as well as
vanous north-west events.

The show lasts 90 minutes

and tickets are available at
the door for $2.00.
