The meeting was called by the North Van Recreation Commission in response to complaints from a number of residents about the proposal. The commission has proposed converting the Seymour Room in the rec centre into a licenced lounge in order to provide ad- ditional income for the commission to balance nsing expenses. Although the concept received approval from both North Van City and North Van District councils, neither council has_ yet granted the money to set up the lounge. One commission member has said that they have been told a liquor licence will be forthcoming as soon. as funding is granted.
