The cost of a joint - $75 fine

A newcomer from the
Caribbean was fined $75 in
West Vancouver Provincial
Court after pleading guilty to
a charge of being in
possession of a marijuana
cigarette January 2.

The fine was levied by
Judge Perry Millar on Trevor
Andrew, age 21, who gave
his address as 3880 McGill in
Burnaby.

hotel-apartment early Friday

around 2:20 a.m. at the 26-
storey Plaza International at
Marine Drive and Capilano.

He says the fire had been
deliberately set.

The observation, was made
by. Judge Perry Millar in
stating he could see no point
in sending Ronald Letcher,
31, of 427 East 1st, North
Vancouver, to jail for stealing

The fire is under in-
vestigation..as a case of
arson.

“The fire definitely had
been started in a box of
clothing’ or other material
left in an elevator on the
upper floors of the building“,
