Young pianist
performs

NORTH Vancouver's 16-
year-old virtuoso pianist,
Nicholas Maloff, returned
recently from his orchestral
debut with the Kamloops
Symphony Orchestra in the
Rachmaninoff Second Piano
Concerto.

The orchestra, which con-
sists of local and imported
professional musicians, sup-
ported Nicholas who, accor-
ding to Sandra Albers of the

Kamloops News, ‘‘skillfully
interpreted the sweeping
grandeur of this very Rus-
sian piece of music and
handled the technical in-
tricacies to fine effect.”

Nicholas can be heard ina
solo recital of works by
Bach, Beethoven, Chopin,
Debussy and Harry Somers
Jan. 25 at 2:30 p.m. at St.
Andrew’s United Church,
1044 St. Georges Street.
