MARGARET MACKENZIE Hiiker
Dawe, a well-known music teacher
in North Vancouver for over 50
years, died of Alzheimer’s Disease
on Jan. 17, 1996, at Glengarry
Hospital in Victoria,
BC.
Margaret. was born
and raised in Vancouver
and devoted her life to
her family and to
music. She earned the
Licentiate of the Royal
School ‘of Music of
Lordon (LRSM) whiie
still in her teens. She
held the designation of
’ Associate of the Royal
Conservatory of
Toronto (ARCT), as
. well as being a member

active member and president of the
Vancouver's Women’s Music Club
and Philhannonic Music Club. Her
life long dedication was to “to
enthuse each of her pupils about
music.” She did this in:
piano, theory, harmony,
counterpoint and histo-

temembered for her
highly organized
approach to Toronto
Conservatory Exams,
her relentless stress on
sight reading and her
insistence on wide vari-
ety in the developing
repertoire of her stu-
dents. Students were
