Seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day, Venice |
Bakery of North Vancouver is in full production. The -
bakery, in its 17th year, has been located on the North
Shore for the past 12 years, and is presentiy empioying

270 people, most of them North Shore residents. With

40- driver-sales vehicles, from  WHandi-vans_ to 3
tractor-trailer units, Venice Bakery is distributing fresh
bréad daily to all parts of B.C. as far north as Prince
’ George. ;

Tho Canada Safety Council has sponsored this
program since its Inception In 1968. Since that
time It has been successfully Introduced to many
communities across Canada. Ite purpose Is to
make assistance available to children in distress
sliuations.

The program is operated by utilizing

Paronts’’. Volunteers are screened by police and

those homes selected are designated by a.
“‘Block Parent Card’’ displayed In the front
window. Persons In these homes will assist
children In distress.

Block Parents are advised of what action to
take, but ave NOT oexpectged to administer
first-aid, provide tood, drink or transportation.

The following are examples of stress
situations whore a child might require assistnco:
