A10 - Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1981 - North Shore News In spite of the popularity of the Sea Bus, rush hour traffic problems on the North Shore are bad. Marine Drive heading east in the late afternoon is terrible and the Lions Gate Bridge is slow and congested several times during the day. Today's question is: “What could.be done to help the N. Shore’s rush hour traffic problems?"’ Jeff Soutar North Vancouver We need more buses to encourage people to leave their cars at home. Also, why can’t Welch Street be opened up to alleviate the bumper to bumper traffic on Manne Drive? City council voted last week to prepare a bylaw prohibiting entertainment involving minors in cabarets unless a special permit 1s issued by the City. Even then the minor would have to be ac- companied by two adults, one of them a parent, legal guardian or member of the minor's immediate family. Alderman Stella Jo Dean introduced the motion. saying that “15 year old girls can enter cabarets and it is alleged that these 15 year old girls have been served liquor. “I feel very sad to see young girls going into cabarets.” Frank Morris, director of development and licensing services and the man who'd have to administer the licensing. said there was a growing problem with minors drinking in night- spots and he was already seeking legal advice on a possible bylaw.
