The North Vancouver- based team selected Darcy Rhodes 15th overall. Rhodes played for PoCo’s junior club, a team which proved popular with the Indians’ braintrust. Three of North Shore's seven picks in the draft played for the junior Adanacs. South Fraser’s junior teain also proved to be fertile ground for the Indians as three juniors chosen by North Shore played junior there, including fourth round selec- tion Greg Hiltz. Past trades by the Indians which inchuded first and see- ond round draft picks came into effect at this year’s draft. In rounds five through nine, the Indians selected (Gunior club in brackets): Steve Cousins (Port Coquitlam), Brad Bailey (South Fraser), Kee Toy Joseph (Coquitlam), Derek Wintermau3s (Port Coquitlam), and Steve LaFond (South Fraser). The = day-long ~—s event included demonstrations of various martial arts and com- etitions in karate, kata, umite and kobudo. The feature attraction of the day, however, was the team competition between Team B.C. and ‘Team Washington State. The prize is the Sato Cup, and Team B.C. played impo- lite hosts by laying claim to the first annual meeting of the two teams. Team B.C. members include Chad Edberg, Curtis Gerlinger, Lisa Hogan, Ali Naharani, Michelle Pearce, Serrie Sinn and Rolle Voss.
