Drugs seized A NORTH Vancouver man faces a drug trafficking charge following a recent seizure of drugs. On Jan, 21, the North Vancouver RCMP and the West Vancouver Police executed a search warrant under the Narcotic Control Act. During the search of 2 300-tlock West Sth Street resi- dence, the police seized 14 grams of cocaine and cocaine trafficking paraphernalia. The cocaine has an estimated street value of $1,400. The police also scized a stolen fax machine and stolen credit cards, Charged with possession of a narcotic for the purpose of trafficking is Nathan Baker, 29. Baker was also ar- rested on a number of outstanding warrants. Strike notice THE NORTH Shore Neighborhood House in’ North Vancouver -was issued with 72 hours strike notice on Tuesday after employees voted overwhelmingly in favor of strike action on Monday. The employees, members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) local 389, provide childcare services and community recreation in North Vancouver, Union negotiator Gary Johnson sald the 31 workers, most of whom are women, are underpaid. “‘These people are providing vital services to the community, but they have been exploited for many years and their families simply cannot continue to subsidize the services,” said Johnson. ‘‘They are being paid up to $4 an hour less than their unionized counterparts in other jurisdictions.” The workers voted 78% in favor of strike action in a government-supervised vote.
