WV students win scholarships

SIX FORMER West Van-

couver Secondary School stu-
dents have won Canada Schol-
arships.

The six, who graduated in
June 1990, are UBC students

Canada Scholarships are
awarded to first-year university
undergraduates entering natural
sciences or engineering studies.

Each eligible post-secondary
institution nominates scholars
on the basis of their ranking
according to their academic re-
cord. Each institution is re-
quired to nominate women for
a minimum of 50 per cent of
its scholarship allocation.

The post-secondary  institu-
tions are given a predetermined
number of scholarships to of-
fer. Each province and ter-
ritory is allocated a minimum
of 10 scholarships per year.
