In addition to the doubles honor, the 21-year-old Connell was a finalist in the awards’ Male Player of the Year and Most Im- proved Male Player categories. Connell is currently ranked sev- os overall by Tennis Canada. He teamed up with Greenan, 20, to win the men’s doubies title at the Sun Life Nationals. Connell also broke into the world's top 200 rankings after sweeping the singles and doubles crowns at the 1986 Belgian Satellite circuit in October. Toronto’s Andrew Sznajder, 19, won male tennis player of the year award, while Montreal's Martin Laurendeau won the most improv- ed male Player a\ award.
