Fare fight February 6
when groups meet

THE BOWEN Island com-
mittee fighting ferry fare in-
creases will meet the board of
directors of the B.C. Ferry
Corporation on Feb. 6.

Georg Helenius, a member
of the committee and Bowen
Island’s GVRD repreésen-
tative, said residents of the
island will meet Saturday to
put together their case
against the new rates.

A new fare structures that
went into effect Jan. 1 has
raised some fares for Bowen:
Island commuters by more
than 80 per cent.

residents convinced the ferry
corporation to reduce
