Gas station robbed

A MAN claiming to have a gun held up dhe Esso gas sta-
tion on Sept. 16 at 1712 Lonsdale Ave. in North
Vancouver City.

A small amount of money was given to the suspect,
according to a North Vancouver RCMP spokesman,

The suspect is described as being in his carly 20s, 1.8
metres (5°10”), 72 kg (160 Ibs) with average build. He
had long blond spiked hair with dark roots. The suspect
had pale blue eyes and no facial hair.

Youths charged

TWO TEENS were charged with robbery after two
youths were told to give up their coats at knife-point on
Sept. 14 near the 3000-block of Mountain Highway.

The victims were earlier robbed of their hats by the
pair, according to a North Vancouver RCMP
spokesman, Several pelice cars responded to the 2 a.m.
incident. The suspects were apprehended and a police
dog located the knife. The male suspects are charged
with armed robbery. The Young Offenders Act stipulates
that they remain anonymous.

Family fair
PARTNERS IN Early Childhood, a group of North
Shore parents, childcare professionals and representa-
tives from community agencies, is holding a community
workshop and fair te help address issues troubling par-
ents.

The Parenting Resource Fair will take place today
from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Capilano Mall. The group suv-
veyed 350 North Shore mothers and fathers earlier this
year. The respondents revealed an array of concerns,

be forced to shut its doors for good.

But members have been active
behind the scenes, looking for 900
sq. m (10,000 sq. ft.) of space for Y
programs, said John Phillips of the
YMCA Action Committee.

The committee reports to the
Y's advisory committec.

“We're hoping by mid-October
we'll have a definite answer about
what’s going to happen,” said
Phillips. “We're working towards a
happy solution,” he added.
