Artists’ works exhibited

NORTH VANCOUVER’S
Seymour Art Gallery is launching
an exhibit of works by two local
artists, Brenda Cross and Colleen
Cosgrove.

Called Double Vision, the show
opens tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Cross, a member of the West
Vancouver Sketch ‘lub, uses her
pen and watercoijor techniques to
capture the wild beauty of Deep
Cove.

Cosgrove, who holds an M.A. in
fine art history from the University
of B.C., says she is drawn to
watercolor because of the freedom
it allows her to express ideas and
feelings rather than imposing strict
conventions on her work.

Inspiration for her work comes
largely from her garden.

Seymour Art Gallery is located
at 1204 Caledonia Ave.

Fabric art to be shown

FABRIC ART lovers take note:
focal artist Jane Fawkes is exhib-
iting her work at the Ferry Build-
ing in West Vancouver until Sun-
day, April 1.

The show, which opened last
night, is a collection of large and
colorful pieces of cotton fabric

painted with acrylic, stuffed and
stitched to give a quilt-like appear-
ance.

An Emily Carr graduate,
Fawkes has shown her work
around the Lower Mainland. The
West Vancouver show is open dai-
ly from 1} a.m. to 5 p.m., at the
foot of 14th Street.
