I am sure that everyone will be
most pleased to know that ali our
anxious West Vancouver families
enjoyed a happy Christmas, and
that our North Shore Food Bank
received assistance as well.

The appeal put out by the North
Shore News touched many hearts,
and the response was terrific.

The West Vancouver Santa
Claus Fund packed and delivered
217 food hampers along with many
toy hampers for the children,

Truly, the West Vancouver
firefighters are caring people.
Their willingness to help knows no
bounds. We can all be proud of
our fire department. They deserve
our praise and thanks.

Our willing voluntcers, especial-
ly Mrs. M. Kilby and Mrs, Irene
Caverly who were on hand every
day, merit honorable mention.

ple of points that were made in

First, the question of how the
cutbacks will affect my business is
not the issuc. To be honest, J will
work less for higher wages off the
medicai plan.

Of importance is the effect our
exclusion from the medical plan
will have on the service 1 offer to
the public, that service being an
effective relicf and control of soft
tissue pain and discomfort.

The service is a relatively inex-
pensive branch of the health care
system and a referral from a medi-
cal doctor is required before the
Medical Services Plan can be billed
for Weatment. Many of the people
who benefit from this service are
on fixed incomes

Second, the point John
Reynolds, MLA, made was that he
knows of no basis for speculation,
at this time, on’ our immediate
removal from the medical plan.
