NEED FOR SENIORS Housing opposition |. WV ‘disgrace’ Dear Editor: There has been opposition to a low-income seniors’ housing pro- posal in West Vancouver. At the last public hearing a very respected physician charitably suggested that some opponents might be motivated by fear. They hooted with derision, so it seems they are not afraid of the unknown. They just want to keep other people out of their pleasant neighborhood. The architect has produced a low-lying, split-level building that fits snugly into a corner beunded on the 2ast by a creek and by a park on the south. It is a dead-end street and the people in the one house to the west have been of- fered a very generous amount if they wish to sell. There are a few people on the back street that have a legitimate concern bur that does not explain the vicious attack on the West Vancouver church's proposal. There is no excuse for the callousness of the opponents to this application. It is a disgrace to West Vancouver's reputation. Doris McNab West Vancouver Cove development favored Dear Editor: As a Bowen Island resident, [ would like to comment further on the Sept. 25 story Marina Plan Revamped. The comments of Mr. John Rich would indicate that Bowen Islanders are against any marina development. This is simply not the case. Bowen Island has three elected representatives: two on the Islands Trust and one on the Greater Van- couver Regional District. They were elected on the basis of their commitment to the development and revitalization of the Snug Cove area, including the marina expansion, They represent the great majori- ty of Bowen Island residents who wish to see the Snug Cove area become something more than a collection of dilapidated buildings and polluted beachfront.
