Tourism Vancouver is making it easy with ils “Be a Tourist in Your Own Town” program, scheduled to debut in May. “This program is our way of encouraging Vancouverites to cnjoy our city the way six million overnight visitors do every year,” says Rick Antonson, executive director of Tourism Vancouver, “We've probably all said at some point or other thal we never take the opportunity to explore our own cily the way we would some- where else as a tourist — and in the process, becoming better and more knowledgeable hosts.” The program will run during Mother’s Day weekend from May 6 to 8 During this period, participat- ing Vancouver area attractions, restaurants and transportation com: panies will offer special programs and discounts, including free admis- sion to more than 4 top attractions, To access these special offers, residents will be able to purchase a tourist “passport” from outlets throughout (he gevater Vancouver area beginning the week of March at. On the North Shore, passports can be purchased at Park Royal Shopping Centre or Lonsdale Quay. The passport will provide free admission to: B.C. Place (tour); B.C. Sports Hall of Fame; Burnaby Village Museum: Capilane Suspension Bridge; Dr. Sun Yat- Sen Classical Chinese Garden; Grouse Mountain Resorts Ltd. H.R. MacMillan Planetarium; Science World: Sri Lankan Gem Museum, CN-IMAX Theatre (Starboard Theatres Ltd; The Lookout! at Harbour Centres UBC Museum oof Anthropology: Vancouver Aquarium; Vancous er Maritime Museum; and the Vancags sr Mussinn, Participants will have their “passports” stamped at euch tourism business location.
