Volunteer team members, join- ed by members of the Seymour Ski Patrol, searched Mount Seymour on Tuesday to try and locate Brian Jacklan, 36, of ‘Richmond who had failed to return home from a day of snowshoeing om the mountain. Police found Jacklan’s car parked at the mountain. On Tuesday morning, RCMP brought in a helicopter to assist with the search. North and West Vancouver Emergency Program coordinator Ross Peterson said the man had gone snowshoeing on Mount Seymour on Monday by himself and was scheduled to return to his Richmond home by mid after- noon. The man’s wife reported him missing at 10 p.m. when her hus- band did not return home. Peterson said the North Shore Rescue Team was dispatched to Mount Seymour at 10:30 p.m. Monday and spent the entire night searching for the missing man, — “The search hasn’t shown any- thing so far. He had a pack and some provisions, but 1 don’t think he had a sleeping bag or a tent with him. a “He has been described to us as an experienced woodsman who is. By Surj Rattan News Reporter in excellent physical shape,’’ said Peterson. He added that the searchers are at a disadvantage because they do not know where on the mountain the man had been snowshoeing. “We're searching all the ski areas and the areas adjacent to the ski areas. That’s one of the prob- lems we're facing, not knowing where he went. It’s a very big area,’ said Peterson. “Last night (Monday and early Tuesday) it was quite windy and cold and that hampered our search because the tracks were all covered up.”’ Monday was the second time in less than two weeks that the North Shore Search and Rescue Team has been dispatched to local mountains. On Dec. 19 the team was sent to ‘Cypress Bowl in West Van- couver to search for two out-of- bounds skiers who got caught in an avalanche. Earl Gregory Kurz, 31, of Co- quitlam was eventually found by a North Vancouver man who was cross-country skiing. Still missing is William Eugene Leboe, 34, of Westbank. 8 vancouvan Ever thought of becoming a Big Brother?
