Attack cluttered
closets with zeal

Just as every person has his own
varied styles and
clothes and shoes, so must a closet
be organized to suit those individ-
ual needs.

For example, a customer com-
plained that her shoes were clutter-
ing her closet floor. During a con-
sultation with her, it was
discovered that some way was
needed to organize her closet in
such a way as to accommodate 40
pairs of shoes. No small feat when
you consider a closet 6 ft. wide.

The solution was to tier shoe
tacks up the side wall of the closet.
This was done without taking away
any of her hanging space.

We went on to organize the rest
of her closet resulting in 30 per
cent increase in hanging space.

Unfortunately little or no
thought is given to the efficient use
of available space when closets are
built. Sometimes it seerns almost
like closets are put in as an after-
thought.

WASTED SPACE

Conventional closets consist of
one wooden shelf (usually par-
ticleboard) and one wooden dowel
or rod. When you consider that
usually more than half of your
clothes consist of short hanging
(i.e., shirts, pants, blouses, ctc.), it
becomes quite clear that there’s a
lot of wasted space in your closet.

Also, when you look above your
wooden shelf you will usually see
2% feet of wasted space to the
ceiling. All of that can be effec-
tively utilized by proper organiza-

If you are suffering from the
‘eloset clutter’ syndrome, here's a
few tips that will help you:

Take a good look and supurate
your long hanging clothes from
your short hanging. You will
usually find that more than half of
your clothes are short hanging.

DOUBLE THE SPACE

By having double hanging racks
installed on one side of your closet
you are doubling up on your closet
space, and leaving enough room
for your long hanging dresses and
coats.

Undernesth your dong hanging
clothes a shoe rack can be installed,
thus not detracting from your
available shoe space. You have just
increased your hanging space,
storage space and shoe space.

up too much of your bedroom
