Statisucs which point to low unemployment rates among graduates of both the community college system and universities, suggest these instituuons are doing their job. But Wayne Gartley, executive director of the University and College Placement Associaton, says they could do more. “The majority of students arent selecting the proper courses because they have not done any career plan- ning. They don’t have an objective in mind and they don't know what career they want to follow, so they've tended to take the path of least resistance by taking courses that appear to be the easiest,” he said.
