Creston doesn't want
North Vancouver City’s old
fire truck after all, so the
Museum and_=e archives
committee is going to have a
chance to see if there is any
way it can be preserved as “a
functioning museum truck.”

Two months ago, City
council voted to accept an
offer on behalf of Creston to
purchase the City’s 1958 La
France Aerial fire truck for
$23,750.

But City

municipal council to pur-
chase the truck. :

The City director of
purchasing, G.H.Brewer
recommended that the City
put the truck up for bids or if
this failed, engage the
service of a _ distributing
company to try to sell the
truck.

But Alderman Gary Payne
said he had a better idea,
one that was. originally
reyected two months ago.

Payne moved that council
defer the matter until the
museum and archives
committee had a chance to
comment on whether they

Loucks said he did not know
where they would store the
truck, he broke a tie vote
and the matter was deferred.

For a while then, the
future of the truck which
Payne said “nobody wants”
remains in limbo.

And while this is un-
derway, the City Fire
Department's new 100 foot
Aenal truck is undergoing
tests and should be placed in
service sometime in the first
week in September, if it 1s
sauusfactory.
