W.C. Capilano college em- ployees have protested the slow pace of contract negotiations and have threatened to take the matter before the Labour Relations Board unless Management starts bargaining seriously. Faculty association president, Wanda Tilley, said that the negotiating team for the 340 employees has written a letter of protest to college board president L. Srivastava. In the letter, negotiators charge that management representatives have failed to offer counter-proposals in crucial parts of the contract and “do not consider these negotiations to be a priority item.” . Tilley said that the faculty is specifically objecting to management's unwillingness to move beyond its initial wage offer of six per cent less costs of health benefits. The letter also protested the lack of management response to a proposed cost of living clause and criticized management vagueness on other issues in negotiation. Faculty are especially concerned about management's apparent reluctance to find adequate time for negotiating. The letter stated that managements refusal to respond displays a lack of desire to settle the contract. Unless their proposals receive serious responses, faculty advised “we will consider the College is unwilling to bargain in good faith and we will be taking this matter before the Labour Relations Board.” Mounties face bottles Police had to face a hail of bottles while trying to break up a large party, early Sunday morning in North Vancouver.
