orth TO KEEP you looking fresh and pretty from morming to midnight, you may need a few refreshing touch-ups. FASHION STATEMENTS -Even when you've had a hard day, your feet hurt and you feel frazzled, you don’t. have to look the way you feel. In fact, if you heighten your appearance, the psychology of looking better almost guarantees that you also will feel better. Try these quick revitalized look. @ (1) Don’t wash your face. Contrary to what you may usually do, don’t make yourself start from scratch on your make- up. At the end of the day, you probably don’t want to give yourself a complete makeup job. Often, all you need is a little spritz of water on your face and neck, that you can keep at work and take home with you. Blot surface dirt and excess water off. @ (2) Conceal a tired look. . If it’s been a long day, or a late night before, chances are your eyes look tired. You may need a makeup concealer beneath them to hide dark circles, Dot foundation or coverstick in an inverted V-shape directly beneath eye and blend well with finger or sponge. @ (3) Powder your nose. Teli-tale signs of the day’s events can be read on a greasy complexion, but instead of briskly brushing the powder across the face, hesitate a moment. Lightly press it into the skin and then blend it to give you a soft com- plexion that wilf be flattering in evening light. If you. would rather not use powder but want to get cid of the shine, try a fight blotting of distilled witch hazel on the af- fected areas. : @ (4) Add just a touch of warmth to the cheeks. Don’t overdo the blusher even if you think you look pale. The trick is where you put it, not how much. . To brighten your face, add it along the top of the cheekbone, the browbone (just below temples) and the chin, but just the slightest dusting. @ (5) A smudgy or non-existent lip line can allow your makeup to look like it’s been working all day. After several hours lipstick tends to bleed if you don’t add a good base first. When applying steps to a after-hours foundation or powder, be sure to go over lips too, then use a pencil liner to make a crisp outline that will “hold” the lipstick in place. © (6) Make your eyes conte alive, but not with a lot of added color. You don’t need to ‘yer on overall color, just give special highlights to specific areas to make eyes look bright. A pale shadow (soft pink, yellow or cream) brushed onto the inside corner of your upper lid, just below the brow, or smudged direcily below the lower lid will make your eyes look luminous. To give eyes more depth, dark- en the crease on the upper lid with a smudged shadow in a dark shade such as charcoal or taupe. @ (7) Outline the cye. it is not only fashionable to have a ’70s lined eye, it also gives eyes more definition. Liquid liner is not difficult to learn to use, if you have never tried it, and nothing else gives the same crisp outline to enhance eyes when they are tired. If you prefer, though, a black pencil eyeliner smudged on the outer half of upper and lower eye line will also work. @ (8) Don’t forget eyelashes and brows. Mascara is one of the most essential tools for refreshing your makeup. . First wiggle the wand back and forth at the base of the lashes to separate them, then pull the color through to the ends. After com- pleting lashes, when the wand is fairly dry, don’t return it to the mascara tube until you have light- ly brushed the wand upward onto your brows. This gives brows thickness and darkness (framing the eyes) with an easier and more natural Jook than an eyebrow pencil gives. © (9) You will look like you spent hours getting ready, if you make hair look radiant. Simply smooth on one of the new hair glosses which close the hair cuticle to reflect light and make hair shine. These products come in a spray mist shine or a light gel, and real- ly do leave hair sleek, shiny and without frizzies. @ (10) If you are at the office or making errands all day, create a small cosmetics kit that is portable enough for your purse, to touch up during the day. Use tester sizes or purse-sized makeup, available by most manu- facturers, along with cut-up picces of sponge and Q-Tips, in 2 pretty plastic case. Then you will always be ready to go out in just minutes, because you can freshen up on the spot. Chanel has some of the most compact cosmetic packaging of any manufacturers.
