The provincial Environment Lands and Parks minotry has given the ewner of the Botannia Mine site conditional approval to cap the huge open-pit mine with contaminated soil. The contaminated sail will be brought to che site by trucks and placed in a new landfill. The owner of the site, Copper Beach Estates Ltd. (CBEL) will make money from the fandfill. The bus had broken down and a tow truck was on its way at the time of the accident. The bus driver was not at the scene.
