Deep Cove

mystical about a pro-
cession of lights, says
Darien Edgeler.

Edgeler stages an evening
of Old World enchantment
Friday, Aug. 29 in Panorama
Park.

His mother Barbara held the
firsts Deep Cove Lantern
Procession three years ago. This
year, Tierney Fyfe as Facric
Queen will don gossamer wings
to lead lantern-carrying Cove
dwellers through park pathways
at dusk. Expect the parade to
light up around 9 p.m., follow-
ing Clambake’s musical perfor-
mance in the park. Lantern-
making instructions are free at
Seycove Community Centre
and Sarah’s Designs in
Dollarton Village. Lanterns will
also be on sale at the park.

If it rains, the event will de
postponed to Sept. 5.

Payne was a resident of the
Eagle Harbour area in West

Vancouver, He worked as a
captain in the fire deparunent
and was looking forward to
retiring in two years.

Friends and co-workers
remembered Payne for his

correct question to every
answer on his favorite televi-
sion show, Jeopardy.

Payne was an avid boater
and member of the West
Vancouver Yacht Club.

A service will be held
tomorrow at 10 a.m, at St.
David’s United Church,
1525 Taylor Way. A reception
will follow. at the North
Vancouver Armories.
