| Talking Too filmed localiy thanks to N. Van’s Bob Gray ORE THAN 100 local members of the motion picture industry are thankful that Kirstie Alley will have her second on-screen baby in Vancouver. They should also thank North Vancouver's Bob Gray for talking his way into bringing the sequel to one of the most popular movies of 1989 to the North Shore. Gray, co-producer of Tri-Star Pictures’ Look Who’s Talking and the soon-to-be-filmed Loox Who’s Talking Too, says his biggest chalienge was convincing director Ainy Heckerling to bring the se- quel back to Vancouver. According to Gray, the facilities for making Look Who's Talking JACOBS spotlight feature were so inadequate here that Vancouver wasn’t being consid- ered for the seque!. “| don't think Amy would have come back here after our experi- ence last year,’’ says the English- born Gray, ‘‘We worked in an old converted warehouse in Van- couver. We had such lousy facili- ties. | had to do a real selling job on her.” In fact if it weren’t for Hollywocd whiz Stephen J. Can- nell’s Nerth Shore Studios, says Gray, Look Who's Talking Too would probably have been shct in Toronto. The shiny new studios so im- pressed Heckerling that 95 per cent of the movie will be filmed in North and West Vancouver. For a relatively low-budget film (Gray won't reveai the amount), Look Who's Talking, which follows the adventures of Alley and cabbie John Trave!ta, has done surprisingly well. In the North American market alone it has grossed some $141 million. It’s doing extremely well in Europe and has climbed its way to the number one spot on Van- couver’s home video charts.
