Premier’s field outstanding THE FINAL leg in Exhibi- tion Park’s ‘‘big three’’ goes today, Sunday and promises to be one of the highlight races of the year. The $100,000-added B.C. Premier’s Championship has drawn 12 horsed, among them Canada’s 1982 Horse of the Year, Frost King, trained by Bill Marko of Toronto. Frost King has lifetime earn- ings of more than $1.2 million, the second-leading money winner ever bred in Canada. Frost King finished second in a stakes race at Woodbine last Saturday and Marko has said he will make a decision on whether to ship the Five- year-old gelding to Van- timing — couver by Tuesday of this week. Frost King has been assigned high weight of 128 pounds for the race. Also nominated for the one and three-eights mile test is Sensational Guy, a six- year-old geldig from Califor- nia, trained by one of North America’s leading condi- tioners, Charles Comiskey. Sensational Guy has been campaigning in California at Bay Meadows, Hollywood Park and Golden Gates and in nine starts this year has three wins, a second and two thirds for earnings of $148,640. Burnaby Willingdon Dirty Dozen, national girls under-14 club champions two years ago, will represent the province in the under- 16 divi- sion of the tournament. Poco Blizzard, under the leadership of coach Don Wilson, will carry the B.C. banner in the under-14, division. P Tournament play, con- sisting of a three-game round-robin format, will cOmmence Friday, September 30, and conclude Sunday, October 2. Provin- cial club champions from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba will also take part. The team amasing the highest point total at the end of the round-robin play will earn the right to meet the eastern Canadian champion in the home province of the eastern winner, Octove 22.
