LOCAL businesses straining
under economic hard times
found a friend Monday when
North Vancouver District
council squashed a proposal
from the municipal finance
department to raise business
licence fees by about 10 per
cent a year for 1983.

District businesses last
confronted increased fees in
1981 when the municipality
levied 20 per cent rate hikes
for all types of businesses.
Currently, all three North
Shore municipalities charge
equal business licence rates.
