Canada Day celebrations

FAMILY FISHING DERBY... West Vancouver Parks and Recreation are hosting a Canada Day Family Fishing
Derby at Ambleside Pier, located at the foot of 14th Street in West Van. The free event is open to parents with
children 12 and under, ‘and runs from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, July 1. Children stould bring their own fishing
gene fishing permits are not required. Prizes include gift certificates to local restaurants, For more information

PEMBERTON HEIGHTS RED AND WHITE PICNIC... The Pemberton Heights community is holding a
Canada Day picnic at Sowden Park on Friday, July 1. The fun-filled afternoon begins at noon at the park, located
at 23rd Street and MacKay Avenue in North Vancouver. Bring along lunch and a blanket, and don’t forget to
dress in red and white. The picnic starts at noon, with games and races taking place after lunch.

CANADA DAY VOLUNTEERS... The North Vancouver Canada Day Committee is looking for on-site volun-
teers for this Friday’s (July 1) Canada Day celebrations at Waterfront Park. For more information call 987-4488.

YMCA:DAY CAMP... The North Shore YMCA is offering a summer day camp program for kids ages five to 13.
Activities include daytrips to local attractions, arts and crafts, and evening beach barbecues. The weekly program
