It also goes helps the objective reviewer avoid personal blasts from the past who might still remember that minor delinquent loan or other youthful transgres- sion. A good part of town, ther, in which to be incognito, and a good part of town for Inn Cogneato and its brand of hearty high-quality mid-afternoon big- bread cuisine, because appetites continue to grow in the booming North Vancouver City midtown area. . The Cog, which opened April 21, is an instantly likable neigh- borhood diner. It’s outfitted in clean, modern decor, hardwood floors, a long wood and block glass serving counter, a barside television and assorted tables. The Cog’s serving staff is The two operations share the sume owners, and the same first class Middle Basted breads. But the Cog is mare a bistro than a bakery. Rs menu is built upon the solid foundation of chewy pitas, thick sandwich breads and robust buns. The Cog’s open-face sand- wiches ($4.95 and $5.25) are the size of medium pan pizzas built on sturdy slabs of Perstan Barbary bread and piled high with good, fresh toppings, (Five main varieties range fram olive oil, garlic, parsley, sundried tomatoes and Parmesan —- $4.95 — to ham, green peppers, fresh tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, mozzarella and rosemary sauce -- $5.25.) The Cog also serves a pair of pastas (pasta primavera, $6.25; stuffed manicotti with salad, $6.25), a vegetarian chili ($3.95) and a daily quiche (also with salad, $5.75). All come highly recommend: ed by the diner’s regulars, but the Cog’s signature dish is The Wrap. Itcomes in grilled chicken or heel or straight fresh veggies sauteed variations and is a two- listed! meal in anybody's hooks. Table Hopping’s grilled beef wrap featuied juicy chunks of grilled beef kabob, tomatoes, leaf lettuce and onions all wrapped up in an LP-sized Pars pita bread and laced with a fine piquant yogurt sauce. Accompanying it on the large teal green plate was a generous side of Caesar salacl (optional sides: Greck salad or pasta) spiked with a potent cream Caesar dressing.
